FAQ

Which ID documents do you accept in Costa Rica?

The cédula de identidad and the foreign resident ID (DIMEX). We validate the cédula with the TSE and the DIMEX with the Ministerio de Hacienda. The ID number also gives us the name for the Judicial Archive search.

How do you confirm name and date of birth?

We compare the details you give us with those returned by the cédula validation; if they don’t match, the report fails, and you can accept partial name matches. The cédula validation fails if the record belongs to a deceased person.

What do you check in the Judicial Bulletin?

We search the Imprenta Nacional’s Judicial Bulletin for the person’s cédula number and, if we have it, their name. Each match comes with the text found, the page and a link to the publication.

What do you check in the Judicial Archive?

We search the judiciary’s Judicial Archive for case files under the person’s name. You can exclude files by office or case type, by age, or from before the person came of age. If any remain, the report goes to manual review.

How do you get the results?

Run checks and get results through the dashboard, integrations or API.
